Piedmont Anti-Racism and Diversity Committee and the City of Piedmont invite you to the 28th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025 from 11 am to 12:15 at the Alan Harvey Theater.

This year's program will feature:

​

  • A keynote by Ericka Huggins, an educator, leading Black Panther Party member, former political prisoner, human rights advocate, and poet

  • Performances by the Oakland Youth Chorus Chamber Singers and Destiny Arts Junior Dance Company 

  • Fourth Annual Art and Writing Showcase​​

 In a speech in March 1966, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. called on people to never feel comfortable with any form of segregation, tyranny, or supremacy. “I never intend to adjust myself to segregation and discrimination. I never intend to become adjusted to religious bigotry. I never intend to adjust myself to economic conditions that will take necessities from the many to give luxuries to the few.”
