On January 17th, 2022, PADC held its 25th annual (virtual) program, co-sponsored by the City of Piedmont, which featured performances by traditional Native American flutist Vince Redhouse and the Oakland Interfaith Youth Choir along with speakers Congresswoman Barbara Lee; Assemblymember Buffy Wicks; Piedmont Mayor Teddy Gray King; Dr. Clayborne Carson, founding director of the MLK Research and Education Institute; and Anna Malaika Tubbs, author of The Three Mothers.

Committing to our own personal and family anti-racist learning journeys and being intentional about racial equity was the focus of Piedmont’s 25th annual MLK Day Celebration.

Dr. Martin Luther King’s vision for inclusive communities calls on us to reflect and change ourselves, as well as embrace the interdependence necessary for everyone to live together in peace. “Our goal is to create a beloved community and this will require a qualitative change in our souls as well as a quantitative change in our lives,” King said.  To view this year’s program, please view below.
