Where Your Money Goes
This year we look forward to continuing (and with your help, adding to) the support we provide for the following school-centered work:
- We award approximately $8,000 in grants to teachers and staff of the Piedmont Unified School District to support diversity efforts including multicultural literature for teachers, librarians, and students; service learning programs, and ongoing support for events such as Diversity Day at Piedmont Middle School.
- We fund the Appreciating Diversity Film Series, which offers free screenings twice monthly in Piedmont and Oakland of documentaries highlighting diversity-related topics and issues.
- We collaborate to support diversity and inclusion with other Piedmont parent clubs, including the Piedmont Asian American Club (PAAC); Piedmonters for Resources, Advocacy and Information in Special Education (PRAISE); and Piedmont Advanced Learners Program Support (ALPS).
- We have parent liaisons at every school who are available as a resource on issues of diversity and inclusion.
Finally, before we resume our school and community activities later this month, we would like to introduce the new PADC officers for 2015-16. We are pleased to welcome the following on board:
